GABA - Gamma Aminobutyric Acid - Information

GABA - Gamma Aminobutyric Acid

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a non-essential amino acid derived from glutamic acid. It regulates the transmission of chemical impulses in the central nervous system and is, therefore, essential for brain metabolism.

Used in the treatment of epilepsy and hypertension, it induces calmness and tranquility. It is also useful in reducing problems related to an enlarged prostrate, by stimulating the release of the hormone prolactin from the pituitary gland. The doses recommended are 20 to 40 mg daily, dissolved under the tongue. This, however, should only be taken under medical guidance.
